WASHINGTON - U.S. Reps. Darin LaHood (IL-18) and Rodney Davis (IL-13) along with State Representative Dan Brady and McLean County Sheriff Jon Sandage today announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration has approved a disaster declaration for McLean County following historic flooding in June.

LaHood and Davis co-led a congressional delegation letter to the SBA Administrator last week supporting the request. That letter can be found here.

More details and information on how to access SBA disaster resources can be found here courtesy of the McLean County Sheriff's Office and here courtesy of the SBA.

"Severe storms have caused significant flooding throughout McLean County, resulting in major damage. Assisting McLean County residents is critical, especially as the community has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic this past year. I was proud to lead my colleagues with Congressman Davis in this effort and I appreciate the SBA’s timely approval of this much-needed assistance," U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-18).

"The recent flooding throughout McLean County has left many families and businesses needing assistance. That is why along with Congressman LaHood I co-led a delegation support letter to the SBA advocating for a disaster declaration. I applaud the SBA on their quick turnaround of this request so our constituents can get access to the help they need. Sheriff Sandage and his team at the EMA did a great job conducting the work on the ground to make this happen," U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (IL-13).

“I have worked with all levels of government agencies to explore how we can help those affected by our area's recent flooding. This declaration will help open up small loans for homeowners who continue to need help!” State Representative Dan Brady.

“McLean County was devastated by the recent flooding that affected so many local families and businesses. The SBA disaster declaration request will provide some necessary financial assistance to those who have suffered loss and the McLean County Sheriff’s Office along with the McLean County Emergency Management Agency fully supported the declaration request. We also appreciate the strong support and advocacy of Congressman Rodney Davis, Congressman Darin LaHood and State Representative Dan Brady in guiding this request,” McLean County Sheriff Jon Sandage.

From the Congressional delegation’s letter to the SBA Administrator:

“Severe storms caused up to 10 inches of flooding in McLean County. The damage assessment conducted this month by the SBA found that many properties either incurred major damage or were destroyed as a result of the flooding.

“Assisting these residents in recovery is of utmost importance, and Governor Pritzker has determined that this incident is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the state and local governments.

“As such, we respectfully request that you issue an SBA Disaster Declaration for McLean County, and we request that the SBA disaster loans also be offered to the counties that are contiguous to the aforementioned county."
