2024 Community Funding Projects Requests
Members of Congress may request funding for specific projects in their communities, so long as the projects have a federal nexus and meet other requirements established by federal law, House Rules, and the Committee to ensure only high-quality projects are requested and funded. Congressman Darin LaHood is authorized to submit 15 submissions for approval for the 16th Congressional District of Illinois.
The following projects were submitted by Congressman Darin LaHood for consideration during the FY2024 Appropriations process and are listed in alphabetical order by project name.

Justification for use of funding: This project will support consolidation efforts to provide cost-effective wastewater treatment to residents across two counties in central Illinois and reduce the impact of taxpayers associated with increases in rates needed to complete the consolidation efforts.

Justification for use of funding: This project will ensure the economic and environmental sustainability of the Upper Mississippi River and Illinois Waterway (UMR-IWW), the only river system that Congress identified in 1986 as “a nationally significant ecosystem and a nationally significant commercial navigation system,” by increasing support for our inland waterways and updating our locks and dams infrastructure.
