PEORIA, IL — Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) announced today that the appropriated funding for the $9 million firehouse project has been obligated for the 182nd Airlift Wing to begin construction of the firehouse.
“The announcement today that the $9 million appropriated in the FY 2019 Appropriations legislation for the new firehouse project has been obligated is a win for the 182nd Airlift Wing and the Greater Peoria community,” stated LaHood. “I have worked tirelessly with the 182nd Airlift Wing and my colleagues in D.C. to ensure that our local Airlift Wing will have the obligated funding to construct a new fire safety facility, which will now service all of Peoria International Airport, as well as the Airlift Wing. I look forward to this project breaking ground in the near future.”
The 182nd Airlift Wing’s funding will allow for a new firehouse to be constructed at the base, which provides services for the entirety of the Peoria International Airport. The construction of a new facility will allow for the storage of all fire service equipment, safer air quality and separate sleeping facilities for those who serve at the fire station.
