SPRINGFIELD, IL — Reps. Darin LaHood (IL-18) and Rodney Davis (IL-13) announced today that the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport has received a $3.2 million U.S. Department of Transportation Airport Improvement Program discretionary grant which will continue the improvements being made at the airport, including runway rehabilitation. The Congressmen released the following statements regarding the award:
“I am pleased to join Congressman Davis to announce that the Abraham Lincoln Capital airport is yet again a recipient of a USDOT grant to help improve the infrastructure at the airport. The announcement highlights the commitment Secretary Chao and the Trump Administration have to central Illinois and I applaud the investment to help make our airport operations safer. The funds granted will help install perimeter fencing, as well as perform necessary upgrades to the runways to assure safer conditions for pilots, passengers, and overall airport operations,” said Rep. Darin LaHood.
"Congressman LaHood and I believe the investments we make in our nation's airport infrastructure not only ensures safe, reliable transportation, but also spurs economic growth and creates jobs," said Davis. "Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport's receipt of this USDOT grant builds on other recent federally funded improvements and benefits Springfield and Sangamon County's economy."
