WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Darin LaHood joined a bipartisan and bicameral group this morning for a rally in support of an extension to the biodiesel and renewable diesel tax credit. Rep. LaHood joined Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA), Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA), Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL), Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer (D-IA), Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-IA). The group was joined by leaders from the National Biodiesel Board and many of their member companies, including the Illinois Soybean Association.

“Biodiesel continues to be a great American success story, particularly in communities’ like those in central and west-central Illinois. Rural communities across the Midwest have seen the benefits of biodiesel’s success through expanded job opportunities and increased markets to sell their products,” stated Rep. LaHood. “Farmers, blenders, producers, and truck drivers in Illinois’ 18th District deserve certainty and I was proud to join a bipartisan group today to call on Congress to pass an extension to the biodiesel and renewable fuels incentive.”

Last month, Rep. LaHood introduced legislation to provide a clean two-year extension for the biodiesel tax incentive, while a long-term solution is worked out. You can read the full bill here.

Earlier this year, Rep. LaHood joined Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA) in sending a bipartisan letter to Congressional Leadership calling for a multi-year tax extension for the biodiesel tax credit. You can read that letter here.
