WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressmen Darin LaHood (IL-18) and Rodney Davis (IL-13) released the following statement today in reaction to Sangamon County State’s Attorney John Milhiser being confirmed by the U.S. Senate last night to serve as U.S. Attorney of the Central District:

“John Milhiser is a career prosecutor with a tremendous record of being tough on crime, enforcing the rule of law and pursuing justice.  He is an excellent choice to lead the Central District of Illinois as U.S. Attorney, and I applaud the Senate’s unanimous confirmation of him. His reputation for integrity and fairness will serve him and the citizens of the Central District well,” LaHood said.

“John Milhiser is a great choice for U.S. Attorney and I applaud his confirmation by the Senate,” said Davis. “His exemplary record and service to Central Illinois throughout the years will ensure he’s able to begin the important work of this office immediately. I look forward to having his leadership in the Central District.”

Background:
Milhiser has served as state’s attorney since 2010. He started his legal career in the state’s attorney’s office in 1997 and spent time in the juvenile, civil and felony divisions before entering private practice in 2003. He returned to the state’s attorney’s office in 2008 as the first assistant and was nominated to serve as U.S. Attorney in August of 2018.
