WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman Darin LaHood voted to rein in regulatory abuse and unnecessary spending of taxpayer dollars. The House considered and passed H.R. 3438, the REVIEW Act, common sense legislation to freeze the implementation of contentious and costly regulations until all court challenges to the regulation are settled. Rep. LaHood released the following statement:
“It’s no secret that this Administration continues to unilaterally write regulations with the force of law, bypassing Congressional approval. Sadly, these regulations have significant impact on our economy, costing billions of dollars. However, even while these regulations—written by unelected bureaucrats—are challenged in court, they are still implemented even if they are later overturned. By passing the REVIEW Act, Congress prevents high-impact rules costing more than $1 billion annually from taking effect until judicial review of legal challenges is resolved. It is a waste of taxpayer dollars to fund regulations that the judicial branch will reject, and this legislation protects our economy from costly regulations until it is certain they will be implemented.”
