PEORIA, IL— Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) announced today his nomination of 17 remarkable young men and women to be considered for admittance into the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy.

“I am proud to nominate these dynamic leaders from across the 18th District for admission into one of our nation’s prestigious military academies,” stated Rep. LaHood.  “After reviewing their credentials and speaking with them personally, I have no doubt that each one of them will represent their country, state, and hometown with honor, courage, and pride. I am inspired by these leaders who are willing to put service before self at such a young age, and I wish them well in their next steps.”

Nominees completed a rigorous application process conducted by a selection panel including veterans and central and west-central Illinois community leaders. The United States service academies will inform these finalized nominees regarding their admission over the next four months.
