WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) released the following statement after President Trump directed the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to lift restrictions on E15, fuel blend with 15 percent ethanol, which is currently prohibited from being sold during summer months in some states. Rep. LaHood released the following statement after President Trump’s announcement:
“President Trump’s announcement today to lift restrictions on E15 is welcome news for the agriculture industry in Illinois’ 18th Congressional District. Ethanol sales help drive demand for corn in Illinois and the announcement today will broaden opportunities for our farmers looking to sell more E15,” stated Rep. LaHood. “Not only will the expansion of E15 sales benefit our farmers in central and west-central Illinois, but this will provide fuel retailers and consumers with more cost-efficient choices that reduce gas emissions into our environment. I applaud President Trump for his commitment to the American farmer and recognizing the importance of ethanol sales for our farmers in the Midwest and appreciate his efforts to allow for year-round sales.”
