WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) released the following statement after the White House and Speaker Pelosi announced an agreement on the United States Mexico Canada Trade Agreement (USMCA).

“The announced agreement on USMCA is great news for Illinois farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses. Over forty percent of products we grow and produce in Illinois go to Mexico or Canada, and this 21st-century trade agreement will maintain and strengthen the open market, free flow of goods that is so vital for our agriculture community in the Midwest. I applaud President Donald Trump and Ambassador Robert Lighthizer for negotiating a strong agreement, and after months of delay, I am pleased that Speaker Pelosi has finally agreed to bring USMCA forward for a vote. I am hopeful that we can vote on USMCA before the Christmas break and deliver a much-needed win for Illinois and our country.”
