PEORIA, IL – Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) today applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration for awarding over $16.5 million in funding for Illinois’ 18th Congressional District airports. The funding was authorized by Congress in the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations (CARES) Act.
“The COVID—19 pandemic is leaving a profound impact on communities across central and west-central Illinois,” said Rep. LaHood. “Through no fault of their own, these airports have lost significant business in the last two months, and Congress acted decisively to deliver relief to them in the CARES Act. I am pleased that this federal funding is being delivered swiftly to our local communities. In Congress, I’ll continue to work with my colleagues to bolster our response to the coronavirus in Illinois and support those in need during this challenging time.”
