Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL), Debbie Dingell (D-MI), and Darrell Issa (R-CA), bipartisan Co-Chairs of the U.S.-Lebanon Friendship Caucus, released the following statement following the announcement that Lebanon and Israel reached a maritime border agreement along disputed territory in the eastern Mediterranean Sea:

"The announced maritime agreement along the disputed Mediterranean territory between Lebanon and Israel is a positive step for economic and long-term stability in the Middle East. We appreciate the commitment of United States negotiators who worked during multiple presidential administrations to support frank discussions as both sides navigated this historic agreement. As the U.S. continues to support engagement between Lebanon and Israel, we believe this agreement is a positive step that will help ease serious economic challenges for the people of Lebanon and will increase security and stability in the region."

The Co-Chairs recently led a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the maritime border issue. You can read the letter here
