Washington, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) today announced that he nominated 15 remarkable young men and women from the 18th District of Illinois to the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy, where they will be evaluated for potential appointments.

“It is a privilege to nominate this group of outstanding individuals from the 18th District to be considered to attend our great military service academies,” stated Rep. LaHood. “We live in the greatest country on Earth because of young leaders like these who are willing to put service before self to support and defend our freedom. After learning about their accomplishments and speaking with each individual, I know this group of leaders will represent Illinois with pride. I wish each of them the best as they continue to move through this process.”

Nominees completed a rigorous application process conducted by a selection panel including veterans and central and west-central Illinois community leaders. The United States service academies will inform the final nominees regarding their admission decision over the next four months.
