Springfield, IL – U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood (IL-18) and Rodney Davis (IL-13) announced today that the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield received $3,333,333 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant will support the airport's runway project.

"The Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is an essential part of our transportation system in central Illinois," said Congressman LaHood. "This funding will support the Airport's continued work to improve runway safety. In Congress, I'll continue to work with Congressman Davis to support our transportation system in Illinois."

“Investing in local infrastructure like Springfield’s Capital Airport helps grow the central Illinois economy,” said Congressman Davis. “Congressman LaHood and I support investments like these in Congress because they are critical to improving our transportation systems and moving our communities forward.”

"These funds will support a significant airport development project that will provide for substantial airfield safety enhancements and provide further economic growth and development opportunities on the airport's north and south sides.  We are very appreciative of the entire Illinois congressional delegation's continued support and comprehending the importance of maintaining and developing our local airport;  it is an integral part of the community's economic engine and is poised to support efforts to kick-start our region's post-pandemic economy,"  stated Mark Hanna, the Springfield Airport Authority's Executive Director.
