WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) released the following statement after President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and King Hamad Al Khalifa signed an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Kingdom of Bahrain:

“The signing of the Abraham Accords today is a historic step forward for peace and prosperity across the Middle East. While the previous administration emboldened our adversaries in the Middle East, President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign on Iran is charting a pathway to greater cooperation in the region. I applaud President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, and King Hamad Al Khalifa for coming together to sign an agreement that moves towards peace, puts pressure on our adversaries, and diminishes the influence of Iran in the Middle East.”
