PEORIA, IL — Congressman Darin LaHood (R-IL) announced today that Peoria was awarded $795,903 in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) CARES Act funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This funding will support homeless families and individuals who have been affected by COVID-19.

“I’m proud to announce that funding allocated by Congress in the CARES Act to help those in need is coming to Peoria,” said Rep. LaHood. “As we continue to work to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, this funding will provide critical support for residents in need and homelessness assistance efforts.”

Background:
These ESG-CV funds are to be used to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) among individuals and families who are homeless or receiving homeless assistance. The funds will also support additional homeless assistance and homelessness prevention activities to mitigate the impacts of COVID-19.
