WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) released the following statement after President Trump announced new sanctions on Iran. The financial sanctions will target the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and his associates.
“Iran is not a friend of the United States and their provocations over the last two weeks cannot be overlooked,” stated Rep. LaHood. “Iran is the leading state sponsor of terror and the U.S. can’t stand idly by as they take aggressive actions against our interests in the Middle East. It’s clear President Trump’s measured approach to addressing Iran’s malign actions through expanded sanctions is working and taking its toll on the Iranian regime. No one is more responsible for Iran’s aggression than the Ayatollah and I applaud President Trump for keeping up the maximum-pressure campaign on the Iranians.”
