WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) today applauded the U.S. Department of Agriculture for investing $4,795,000 through a loan program to Mason City, Illinois to construct a new 21.4 million-gallon-per-day combined sewer overflow pump station and new excess-flow pond at the sewage treatment plant.
“Access to modern and reliable infrastructure is essential to the quality of life for families in rural communities across Illinois’ 18th District,” stated Rep. LaHood. “This loan program will bolster the local water and wastewater infrastructure in Mason City and expand economic opportunities across Mason County. I applaud the Trump Administration for investing in rural communities and I’ll continue to work with them to strengthen Illinois’ infrastructure.
Background:
This USDA rural development investment will help with the construction of a 21.4 million-gallon-per-day combined sewer overflow pump station and new excess-flow pond at the sewage treatment plant. Additionally, it will support the replacement of equipment throughout the sewage treatment plant. This project will help alleviate health and sanitary issues within the current system.
