WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Darin LaHood (IL18) voted last week in support of three pieces of bipartisan legislation that would modernize and improve access to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), eliminate the medical device tax, increase choices, and lower premiums. He released the following statement:

“There is no question our healthcare system needs to be updated to make sure patients come first, and the legislation we voted on this week took a step in the right direction. As I travel throughout the 18th District, I consistently hear from our hard-working neighbors the need to increase health care choices, lower the ever-rising price of insurance premiums, and improve options for tax-free health savings accounts for those with high deductibles,” stated LaHood. “Illinois is facing a projected 10-percent increase in healthcare premiums next year; this is unacceptable and will be crushing for those throughout central & west central Illinois. I was proud to support these measures to counter the on-going rise in health care costs due to Obamacare and promote more choices in the marketplace. I’m hopeful the Senate will quickly act on these bills so President Trump can sign them into law.”
