PEORIA, Ill. -- Congressman Darin LaHood recently announced the names of 22 students from the 18th District he nominated for consideration to attend the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy or the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Nominees completed a rigorous application process conducted by a selection panel including veterans and Central Illinois community leaders. The United States service academies will inform these finalized nominees regarding their admission over the next two months.
Four local students received nominations for the U.S. Military Academy -- Will Lucie, Basco; Eric Betts, Camp Point; Jace Taliaferrero, Pleasant Hill; and Jacob Lowman, Nauvoo.
Spencer Myers of Golden received a nomination for the U.S. Naval Academy.
