Washington, D.C.—Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-18) voted with House Republicans today to pass the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3762, Restoring Americans’ Freedom Reconciliation Act of 2015. The bill sent to the President’s desk drastically reduces the deficit by half a trillion dollars over the next decade, repeals numerous Obamacare taxes, protects the life of the unborn by prohibiting taxpayer money to fund abortion providers, like Planned Parenthood, and expands access for women’s  health services though the community health center program.

“Time and again, the people of my district have voiced their frustration with the burden Obamacare places on hardworking families, small businesses, and our economy. I am proud to say that Congress has worked to take steps towards repealing and replacing this law with a patient-centered, pro-growth agenda. Unfortunately, the President has indicated that he will veto this legislation. I find this extremely disappointing given that H.R. 3762 decreases our deficit while protecting taxpayer dollars against the atrocities of Planned Parenthood. However, I believe this is a great start for Republicans in 2016 as we have finally placed a bill on the President’s desk that combats his unmitigated disaster of a healthcare law.”

This legislation dismantles Obamacare and repeals the vast majority of the Obamacare taxes in 2016, including the Cadillac Tax, Medical Device Tax, and Health Insurance Tax. It also repeals the Prevention and Public Health Fund, commonly referred to as the Obamacare Slush Fund. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), H.R. 3762 would reduce the deficit by $516 billion over the 2016-2025 timeframe.
