The President focused on our nation’s economy, national security, and the current political climate.

“Coming into tonight, I was hoping to hear how the President plans to lead our nation towards being a prosperous and confident America again. I was pleased to hear him mention trade and reducing federal red tape. However, much of what he said was more of the status quo,” stated LaHood. “The President needs to recognize his failed policies – a broken health care system, a lack of strategy to defeat ISIS, and stagnant economic growth coupled with too little private sector job creation. These are the issues I hear about constantly while traveling around the 18th District. It is my hope that the President will use his remaining time in office to work with Congress instead of implementing unilateral executive actions.”

Rep. LaHood was joined by Army Specialist George Tyler McGibbon of Toms River, New Jersey. Specialist McGibbon is a service veteran currently recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
