Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16) joined Congressional Soccer Caucus Co-Chairs, Representatives Rick Larson (WA-02), Kathy Castor (FL-14), and Don Bacon (NE-02), in issuing the following statement supporting President Trump’s creation of a White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup 2026.
“As bipartisan co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, we welcome President Trump’s creation of a World Cup Task Force,” said Reps. LaHood, Larson, Castor, and Bacon.
“Co-hosting the world’s largest sporting event with Canada and Mexico is a unique opportunity to showcase North America to a global audience and promote soccer in the United States.
“An event of this size requires coordination across the federal government and with state, local, tribal, and international partners, particularly the co-host nations. We look forward to working together with the White House Task Force to ensure the FIFA 2026 Men’s World Cup is a success.”
