• The Ways and Means Committee is the oldest Committee in the United States Congress and the chief tax writing committee in the House of Representatives; and it holds jurisdiction over trade, any revenue-raising measures, Social Security, Medicare, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, and foster care programs.
