Rep. LaHood Announces $9 Million Grant Award for the Quincy Regional Airport
QUINCY, IL – Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded the Quincy Regional-Baldwin Field Airport $9,000,000 in grant funding to support runway reconstruction.
“This investment grant is phenomenal news for Quincy and will strengthen our infrastructure system in west-central Illinois. The Quincy airport plays an important role in connecting the Tri State area with the rest of the country and this funding will ensure they have sound infrastructure for years to come. I applaud Secretary Chao for this strategic investment in the Quincy Regional Airport, and I will continue to work with her and the Trump Administration to strengthen Illinois’ transportation system, especially in rural communities,” said Rep. LaHood.
“Quincy Regional Airport is committed to providing and maintaining the extensive infrastructure necessary to support our many airport users. The airport has a major economic impact on the region, and it is important that we continue to invest in our infrastructure so we can provide a lasting impact for years to come. We could not accomplish this alone, which is why we are so grateful for our federal partners and the continuous support they provide to our airport and our region,” said Quincy Regional Airport Director Sandy Shore.
“The robust economy is enabling more passengers to travel by air so this Administration is investing billions of dollars in America’s airports which will address safer operations, fewer airport delays, and greater ease of travel for air travelers,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine L. Chao.
