Congressman LaHood Tours Enercon Engineering, Announces Support for POWER Act
East Peoria, IL—Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) joined Enercon Engineering Chairman, Ed Tangel and Enercon Engineering CEO, Larry Tangel this morning for a tour of the company’s world headquarters in East Peoria before announcing his support for H.R. 2657, the Power Efficiency and Resiliency Act (POWER Act).
“I appreciated the opportunity to see firsthand the process and development of products Enercon Engineering manufactures, which are sold to businesses across the country. Under the POWER Act, the companies and entities installing the power generation products Enercon produces would see capital returned to them though a tax credit, which can be used to assist in more jobs, opportunities, and growth.”
The POWER Act would amend Section 48 of the internal Revenue Code, providing parity for combined heat and power (CHP) and waste heat to power (WHP) with other forms of renewable energy, allowing them to compete and in turn reducing the initial capital cost of implementing CHP and WHP projects. The bill was introduced in both the House and Senate with bipartisan support.
Founded in 1975 by Edward Tangel, Enercon Engineering has grown from a small Central Illinois company into one of the world’s leaders in the power generation industry. Enercon specializes in high-quality, custom design in manufacturing of controls, switchgear, packaging, enclosures, power modules, and co-generation units for customer provided engine generator sets.
Congressman Darin LaHood proudly serves the constituents of Illinois’ 18th Congressional District, consisting of more than 710,000 constituents across 19 counties throughout Central and West-Central Illinois. Darin was born and raised in Central Illinois and currently resides in the Peoria area with his wife, Kristen, and their three children.
