ELLSWORTH, Ill. -- A proposal in Washington, D.C. would give companies incentives to utilize renewable energy.

U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood (R-Ill.) stopped by Twin Groves Wind Farm in Ellsworth on Wednesday to discuss the Renewable Energy Transferability Act. It aims to motivate businesses to utilize wind and solar energy.

Twin Groves Wind Farm's executive vice president Ryan Brown supports the Renewable Energy Transferability Act.

"[It] really translates into lower cost of power," Brown said. "So when we market the power to utilities or increasingly to commercial industrial customers we are able to offer a lower price because of the more efficient use of those tax credits."

LaHood said renewable energy systems not only help the environment, but can also contribute to local economies and create jobs.
