LaHood, Davis React to the Loss of US Army Sergeant Joshua Rodgers
WASHINGTON, D.C.—According to initial reports released by the United States Department of Defense, on April 27, United States Army Sergeant Joshua P. Rodgers, was killed in action supporting Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan. The Bloomington, IL, native was 22 years old. Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) and Congressman Rodney Davis (IL-13) released the following statements in reaction to the announcement from the United States Army:
“I am heartbroken to hear of the loss of Sergeant Joshua Rodgers, who was killed in action in Afghanistan late Wednesday night. The Bloomington-Normal community, the 18th District, and our nation lost a hero this week as Sergeant Rodgers courageously defended our nation. My deepest condolences go out to the family of Joshua Rodgers, and I pray that his service and sacrifice to our nation may never be forgotten,” stated Rep. Darin LaHood.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Sergeant Josh Rodgers,” said Davis. “We owe a tremendous debt to Sergeant Rodgers for his service to our nation. His loss is a solemn reminder that the freedom we enjoy each day in this country is not free. Sergeant Rodgers joins a long line of heroes whose service and sacrifice to our nation will never be forgotten.”
