The House on Wednesday easily passed the farm bill, a massive legislative package that reauthorizes agriculture programs and food aid.   The legislation has already passed the Senate and is now headed to President Donald Trump, who is expected to sign it.

The city of Springfield has secured a $22 million federal grant that will allow construction to begin on a new stage of the Springfield Rail Improvements Project.

MACOMB — Growing concerns over international trade may be alleviated in part by the Nov. 30 signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).  The measure is meant to replace NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement that was enacted during the Clinton administration. The agreement was signed by the leaders of the three nations during the G20 Summit in Argentina.

The city of La Harpe, Illinois received a grant that will pave the way for a new water treatment system.   Residents and businesses said this is much needed because last summer, everyone was without clean and healthy water.   On Main Street in the city, there was a lot of excitement.

QUINCY -- U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood has pledged to see if there are federal funds to help with a boat dock if the community goes forward with the project. LaHood met with Mayor Kyle Moore on Wednesday on the Quincy riverfront to hear details of a dock at Clat Adams Park that would allow riverboats and other tourists to visit the city.

Peoria, Ill. - The beauty service industry is asking federal lawmakers for tax relief.  Salon owners want changes to the FICA Tip Tax credit, that's currently available for restaurants, but not hair salons and spas.  Not being part of that credit, cost four local salons, nearly $200,000 dollars in additional taxes last year.
