A community gathered to dedicate a building in honor of a fallen solider. The post office in Uptown Normal now has the name of Sergeant Joshua Rodgers on it. Rodgers was killed in action on April 27th 2017 during a raid on ISIS headquarters in Afghanistan The Bloomington native was 22 years old.

NORMAL - U.S. Army Ranger Sgt. Joshua P. Rodgers gave the ultimate sacrifice two years ago this weekend in Afghanistan.  On Thursday the community of Normal came together to honor his name. "Josh Rodgers is a hero here in Bloomington Normal and to have a ceremony today to honor his service, his sacrifice, is really what today's all about," said Congressman Darin Lahood (R) Illinois.

Nearly two years after he was killed during a successful raid on an Islamic State compound in eastern Afghanistan, Normal native Sgt. Josh Rodgers lives on through the Normal Post Office that now bears his name.

LaHood discussed topics including the future of Western Illinois University, the importance of Amtrak and how to fund it, along with agriculture and the importance of getting rid of tariffs.

QUINCY -- Farmers are sometimes called "eternal optimists," and the discourse between U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood and members of the Adams County Farm Bureau on Thursday bore that out. LaHood, a Republican from Dunlap, said he is "cautiously optimistic" the U.S. trade dispute with China can be resolved in 30 to 60 days.
