As we gather with family and friends to celebrate the birth of Jesus and the lessons of love he brought to the world, I want to wish each one of you a Merry Christmas. This joyous season is an opportune time to express our gratitude for the love we share with our friends and family and the countless blessings we enjoy.
During this holiday season, I am thankful for my family, our wonderful home in central Illinois, and the unbelievable privilege to represent the over 700,000 residents in Illinois’ 18th District. Like many of you, we are incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to spend time with our loved ones during Christmas. During this time of year, it is important that we give thanks to those who sacrifice their time without their families and loved ones to protect us.
I want to take a moment to thank our troops during this Christmas season—many of whom are serving overseas far away from their families and loved ones. We recognize that you are far away from for family during this holiday season, so we can be safe at home with ours. Our country is the land of the free because of the brave and we do not take your sacrifice lightly
From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you.
Whether you’re on your way to mass, gathering around the table with loved ones, or opening gifts, I hope each of you has a joyful and Merry Christmas!
